Seven days until #8

Empty stage

There’s just one week left until Ignite Phoenix #8 lights up Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Only seven days until 18 of your fellow Valley dwellers step on stage and tell you about what they love.

But Ignite is bigger than just 18 people. It’s about community. It’s about the scores of people who come to participate and to share the event. We on the Ignite Phoenix committee know that three things really help to bring people together and make new things happen: food, drinks and music.

To those ends, we’ve lined up a top-notch after party and all attendees, speakers and volunteers are invited! First of all, the entertainment will be headlined by local indie band What Laura Says. We’ve had some great bands play at past Ignites, but this time, we’re stepping it up and adding a second musical act. In addition to What Laura Says, Zachary Dodds of Sunset Electrics will also be playing a solo acoustic set. So no matter what your musical tastes, you’ll probably find something great to listen to while you enjoy your food and drink.

Once again, we’ll be hosting the after party on site and providing some great catering to cure your hunger after an evening of passionate and exciting Ignite presentations. Arcadia Farms will be providing a great selection of food for around $10, depending on your tastes. Also, we know an Ignite evening isn’t complete without various beers, wines and liquors, so we’ll have plenty of that as well. All of this will be available for cash purchase only, so leave the plastic at home. Fortunately, we’ll be providing ATMs so you can have all the cash you need.

Finally, we want to know what you think of Ignite Phoenix #8. How were you inspired? Which presentation really piqued your interest? Which one did you think you wouldn’t care about, but really found fascinating? We’re not going to make you do anything boring like filling out a comment form. Heck no! We’re WAY more fun that that. We’re going to set up a video confessional booth in Stage 2 (the smaller theater at SCPA) and we’d like anyone who has something to say to go in and give us your thoughts. Whatever it is, feel free to tell the camera. Of course, we’re going to take the best, funniest and most interesting comments and edit them into an Ignite Phoenix #8 retrospective video.

Oh, one more thing. We have a small surprise for all attendees. It isn’t anything huge, but something we think everyone will enjoy. Something that shows off what a great creative community we have here in Phoenix. Intrigued? You’ll find out one week from today.
